This is the house that Sturlaugur Gilbertson built in Minneota, Minnesota. The
photo dates
from approximately 1900. This is where John Leland grew up. It looks substantially
the same
today except for two additions. The front porch was enclosed and a laundry room was
added.
During the last few yerars of Sturlaugur's life he slept on the front oprch in
summer. He had
glaucoma and was blind for the last few years of his life.
